Dr. R. Karthikeyan

Dr.R.Karthikeyan is human resource trainer, management consultant, writer and now a management educator. He started his career as Clinical Psychologist but from past 19 years his passion towards People and Processes has led him to understand and contribute immensely in the field of HR.

He heads Gemba, a management consulting company focusing in HR solutions for corporate sector. His core competencies are learning facilitation, competency mapping and development, assessment and selection process and performance development. His client list includes major MNCs (like Ford, Visteon, BMW, Whirlpool, Verizon, Philips, Hyundai, Perfetti Van Melle & Siemens) to leading Indian companies (like Ashok Leyland, TVS group of companies, ICICI Bank, Airtel, Satyam Computers, Titan and many others. His clients include corporate from Middle East and South Asian Countries.

Being a Psychologist and Management Consultant his perceptions and offerings are different and value adding to the industry. Having trained more than 30,000 people in the last 15 years, he focuses these days on mentoring initiatives for managers. His popular HR interventions are senior leadership alignment, first time manager's program, and campus to corporate program for beginners, change management & career mentoring initiatives. His behavioral training modules are stress management, work- life balance, mind mapping, whole brain leadership, creativity at work, interviewing skills and train the trainer.

Learning & Development being his major passion, he has conducted more than 100 workshops for students and young HR professionals on Facilitation Skills across the country.

Prior to consulting he has worked as HR manager for Tube Investments and Hyundai Motor India. He also teaches management in some of the leading institutes in the country like IIT Madras & BIM, Trichy.

Currently he has set up a premier school for HR Management at Chennai- Gemba School of HR, which would be the first B-school taught exclusively by business managers.

Dr.R.Karthikeyan is qualified from National Institute of Mental Health & Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore and has a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology. He is Life Member of Indian Society of Training and Development (ISTD), for which he is currently the Hony. Secretary- Chennai Chapter. He is also member of HR sub committee of CII, Southern Region.

In relation to academics, he is a member of Corporate Advisory Board in SRM Institute and member of Academic Council in Madras School of Social Work.

A prolific writer with a credit of 120 newspaper articles on HR, he is currently authoring a book on "Change Management", to be published by Oxford University Press.

He has been recently selected for ''ISTD - Vivekananda National Award - 2008 for Excellence in HRD & Training'' which he received at the National Convention held on 6th & 7th Feb' 09 at Ahmedabad.
